Coaching Comments:
Anytime you start the season 2-0 you have to be happy. We were able to see some things we do pretty well and understand some of the things we need to work on and that is what preseason is all about. Defensively is something we need to improve on we got beat off the dribble way to often and our rotation was slow getting over to help. I was happy with how hard we play as a team. We shot the ball pretty well from the outside and did an excellent job of crashing the boards on both ends. Execution is something we need to work on we have to get sharper running some of the offenses, but that will come with time. We were able to play everyone and every combination we put on the floor played together extremely well. Kiel LaFountaine and Seth Gravesen had strong weekends offensively. Kiel also showed has the ability to be one of the top newcomers into the conference and is going to be a real plus for us this season. Kendell Hunt also had good weekend and is ready to become a leader for us this season. Kacy Keysor did an excellent job of running the offense and showed that he understands how to play defense along with playing as hard as he can on every possession. Kenny Breaux did some nice things on both ends of the court with scoring and rebounding. |

This game was a tail of two halves we had a two point lead with 2:30 left in the first half when the wheels fell off. They finished the half with a 12-2 run to take an 8 point lead at halftime and we started out slow the second half and trailed by 15 early before we made a nice run and cut the score to 55-49 with 12:00 left in the game, but then we made a couple of substitutions and the guys that came in weren’t ready to play. Keontay Glazier and Kiel LaFountaine played well for us. We just need to find more scoring.

This was a repeat of the night before we need to learn how to play 40 minutes of Basketball against good teams. Lake Region hit a 30 footer at the buzzer to go up 3 at halftime. When the second half started Lake Region was the only team that showed up they scored the first 16 points of the second half and we couldn’t respond when you dig that type of hole against a good team most of the time you are going to end up with a loss. Seth Gravesen had a huge first half scoring 27 points, but Lake Region did a nice job of shutting him down the second half. We ran into the same problem we just aren’t getting enough scoring from the other guys. Seth, Kiel and Keontay can’t carry the whole scoring load or we will be in trouble in the conference.

We did a better job of playing all 40 minutes we had a few mental errors on the defensive end, but that will improve with experience. Elton Simmons and Kiel LaFountaine both had there best games of the year. Elton did a nice job of the letting the game come to him and not forcing things when they aren’t there. Kiel showed throughout this tourney that he will be able to score in our league. Seth had what we are expecting to be a normal night for him with scoring and did a much better job of rebounding. This was more of a team effort and was a big reason why we came out with a win. |

Kenny Breaux played very well working hard on getting out and running the floor. Kiel also had another strong game for us from the inside and outside.

We ran the floor as a team as well as we have all season we made some nice passes and played very unselfish basketball. Kacy Keysor played very well on both ends of the court and made a lot of things happen for us. Keontay Glazier set the pace for us on the offensive end early and often in the first half and the rest of the team followed his lead. We were able to get very productive minutes out of a lot of guys which is very important early in the season. Jordan Calavera had one of his stronger performances which was nice to see. |

Whenever you go on the road it is important to get off to a good start and head into halftime with a lead and that was what we were able to accomplish in these two games. We got off to a slow start against Mary JV the first game, but we started to find Seth and that got things rolling and he carried us through the first half scoring 18 points by halftime. The second half we made a few mistakes with the ball and Mary made a run at us and cut the lead to 9. Then Kiel hit a couple shots and we were able to push the lead back to 15. Our Execution is getting better on the offensive end, but we need to keep working on it everyday. We were able to play everyone and every combination we put on the floor played together extremely well. Seth Gravesen had another strong weekend scoring with 27 the first game and coming back to score 22 the second night. Keontay Glazier had another consistent weekend and is playing really well on both ends of the court. Kacy Keysor played as well as he has played this year in the second game he not only led us in assists and steals, but was also second in rebounding. |

We were a step slow on the defensive end of the floor to start the game and played that way the entire first half digging a 25 point deficit at the end of the half. We came out the second half and made a couple of nice runs cutting the lead to 10, but we couldn’t get over the hump. Kiel LaFountaine had a huge night scoring 34 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Seth Gravesen had a good second half, we have to start getting some other guys to step forward and help us on the offensive end of the floor. We also have to become better on the defensive end of floor as a team our help side D is slow getting over we need to make that adjustment. |

Clifford Gillis stepped up and hit some big 3’s in the first half to keep us in the game he scored all 19 of his points in the first half. We came out the second half and made a couple of mistakes with ball right out of the gates and found ourselves in that same situation as last game trying to dig ourselves out of a hole. Kiel LaFountaine lead us in scoring with 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. We need 3 or 4 guys scoring a night and right now we aren’t getting more than 2 guys a night. Defensively we are really struggling we just aren’t getting over and helping out quick enough which is leading to way to many uncontested shots for our opponent.

Coaching Comments:
We have been stressing that we need to find a way to balance out our scoring and that is exactly what we did in this game. Kenny, Keontay, Kendell, Cliff and Jordan looked for there offense which is something that we haven’t been doing every. We have stressed that 2 guys cannot carry the scoring load or we will have trouble beating good teams. We came out shooting the ball and that opened things up for Seth who had a solid performance scoring 24 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Kiel struggled a little shooting, but hit a couple big shoots down the stretch to secure the win.

With the exception of the last 3 minutes of the first half we played as well as we have played all season for the first 35 minutes of the game. We got out in the passing lanes and let our defense dictate our offense. We did a nice job of getting out and running the floor and looking ahead to find the open man. Kacy Keysor had a great weekend running the show for us. He found the open man and delivered the ball where it needed to go when it needed to be there along with playing great defense. Keontay, Kendell, Kenny and Cliff stepped up again in this game to help us start to begin a more complete team. Kiel and Seth had another solid game. The way we played this weekend is what we have been looking for and the way we have to play every time we step on the floor. |

We struggled the first half getting into any kind of offensive rythem. The second half we picked it up a notch and played better as a team. Kenny Breaux had a nice effort, falling just a rebound short of a double-double. Kacy Keysor also played a very good game along with Shane Heidel and Matt Foster. |

I was really happy with Scott Tweed, Shand Heidel, Kenny Breux , Kacy Keysor and Jordan Calavera I thought they played really well for us. Ronnie Lampert also came in and did a nice job for us. This was a much better team effort than the night before. There were many positives we were able to draw from this game. |

When you score 45 points and turn the ball over 27 times you aren’t going to beat a Junior High team let alone a college team. We just didn’t show up to play and that was the most frustrating part. All we can do is forgot about this game and hope it doesn’t happen again. Sometimes the ball just won’t go in the basket for guys you just hope it doesn’t happen to all the players on the same night and that is exactly what happened in this game. |

In this game our Defense dictated our Offense we were a step slow in helping on penetration and it really slowed down our offense. When you dig a hole against a good team you have to spend a ton of energy just to get back within striking distance and that is exactly what happened we cut the lead to 8 in the second half, but just couldn’t seem to get any closer. Seth Gravesen and Keontay Glazier played well for us, we just didn’t close out the first half with the type of effort that was needed and our communication on the defensive end of the floor has to improve. |

Balance scoring is a huge key to winning in our conference and anytime you get 4 guys around 20 points you have a chance to be successful and that is exactly what happened. Defensively I thought we came out with a lot of energy and that helped us at the offensive end. Seth and Kiel did a nice job of controlling the paint and our perimeter defense was much better on sliding over helping and then recovering. Kacy Keysor had a great floor game for us. He found the open players and made some really nice passes. Kiel, Keontay, Seth and Kendell played as well together as a group on the offensive end as they have all season. Keontay also did a nice job of attacking the basket and Kendell was looking to shoot the ball when he was open and that is something we need out of him every night. |

We played good basketball for around 29 minutes of the game, but the last 11 minutes we just hit a wall. We looked tired and weren’t able to create any energy. I was happy with Jordan Calavera he came out looking to score the second half, but the rest of the guys were settling for shoots and not looking to attack like we did in the first half and first 8 or 9 minutes of the second half. |

Coaching Comments:
This was an extremely fun game to be a part of there were 13 ties and 9 lead changes this game was a defensive battle from the word go. Kendell Hunt it a runner with 9 seconds left to give us a 2 point lead and we forced them to take a tough shot at the other end to get the win. I was very happy with how hard we rebounded and worked to contest every shot Williston took. Kiel LaFountaine had another double-double for us and really did a nice job inside. Seth carried us for a stretch in the first half and hit some big free throws in the second half to give us a chance to win the game. I thought the key to the game was our perimeter defense they Keontay, Kendell, Kacy, Cliff and Jordan made sure that the Williston guards had to put it on the floor and didn’t give them any good looks from the outside. Coach Brandt made an adjustment to our zone offense at halftime that was a big reason we were able to build a 7 point lead early in the second half and gave us the confidence to keep battling for the full 40 minutes. |

It took a couple of minutes for us to figure out we had to get Seth and Kiel the ball inside and let them go to work. Once we did that they started kicking the ball out and we started knocking down shots from the outside to go along with Seth scoring inside. Cliff Gillis got us rolling from the outside hitting four 3’s in the first half. Keontay Glazier had another solid game not only scoring 20, but also rebounding pulling down 6 boards along with being 8-8 from the free throw line. Seth Gravesen really took control of the paint scoring 29 points along with going 6-6 from the free throw line. He went to him early in the second half and he responded he was a big factor in us stretching our lead to 29 points with 11:00 minutes left in the second half. |
