Medical
Assistant
Associate in Applied
Science
The two-year Medical
Assistant major prepared students to support physicians and other medical
staff by providing assistance during patient examinations and treatment
administration, by recording patient and related health information, and by
performing a wide range of clinical and administrative duties. Medical
assistants play an integral role in ambulatory care setting such as clinics
and urgent care facilities, where services are offered on an outpatient basis.
Medical assistants have been described as health care's most flexible,
multifaceted professionals. This program provides clinical instruction,
class lectures, and practical experiences through an internship in a medical
facility. Graduates are eligible to take the national certification
examination offered through the AMT.
