Alumni Association

A Board of Directors manages the business of the Alumni Association; board meetings are held at noon the first Thursday of every month, with the exception of July in the Wold Room of the Knudson Student Center.  Alumni members and friends are welcome to attend these meetings.  The Annual Meeting is held the first Thursday of August in lieu of a regular monthly meeting. 

Officers of the Alumni Association are:

The Association supports programs and activities designed to advance and promote the college, and provides Alumni Scholarships to returning students through funds raised from its various projects.  The Association encourages all alumni to get involved;  the College needs your support!

Newsletter - The Alumni Office publishes a semi-annual newsletter which is sent to alumni and friends of the college. The purpose of the newsletter is to support the goals and concerns of the Alumni Association and the Foundation by promoting the college and maintaining ties with former students and friends. Alumni Dues Campaign- The membership campaign is conducted annually with proceeds used for scholarships, Alumni Newsletter, and other expenses.

Alumni Phon-a-thon – The phon-a-thon is conducted in October each year.  Students, staff, and alumni make calls in the evenings over a two week period to solicit pledges from alumni and friends of the college.

Fair Gates - Alumni and friends volunteer each year to take tickets at the main gate of the Bottineau County Fair.  Proceeds from this event are used as determined necessary by the Alumni Board.

General Memorials  - The Alumni Association accepts general memorials in any amount. The memorials are listed in the Newsletter and acknowledgements are sent to the individual’s family and to the donor. Memorial gifts are an excellent way to remember a special person and support the work of the college.

Memory Tree Memorials - The Memory Tree is a tree-shaped wall plaque installed in the entry of Thatcher Hall by the Alumni Association.  Brass plates engraved with the name of the donor and the person memorialized are attached to the tree.  Contributions for brass plates to the Memory Tree are accepted at $25 minimum for the first donor and $10 additional per added donor on the same plate. Memory Tree acknowledgements are sent to the individual’s family and to the donor, and the Memory Tree memorial is listed in the Newsletter.

Faculty, Staff, & Alumni Awards Recognition Luncheon - Annually on the third Friday of April, the Alumni Association hosts the Awards Recognition Luncheon in conjunction with faculty & staff service awards.  Each year nominations are sought for the following alumni awards listed below. Nominations can be sumbmitted online by completing the nomination form listed below.

Golden Service - Must have attended  the College, is at or approaching traditional retirement age after a successful career or exceptional achievement, and his/her work has been beneficial to his/her community or society.

Friend of the College – Does not have to be an alumnus, but has been very supportive of the College, donating time, money, and/or resources that have made a significant difference for the College.

Young Alumnus - Attended the College within the last 15 years, has been successful and has shown growth and promise in a chosen career, has contributed in a beneficial way to community and/or society in general, and has set a good example in his/her community.
